📝 Notes: Your Smart Notebook Inside YuIA

Imagine a notebook with superpowers. A place where you write freely (ideas, drafts, lists, articles) and the AI is right there, ready to help refine, expand, or reorganize everything you've written.

That's what Notes are. Unlike the chat, which is an ephemeral conversation, Notes are a permanent space to create, think, and build content with the help of artificial intelligence. It's where drafts become polished texts, scattered ideas become organized projects, and chaotic notes become professional documents.

✍️ The Notes Editor​

The Notes editor is a complete writing environment, with support for Markdown and Rich Text (formatted text). Whether you prefer the full control of Markdown or the simplicity of a visual editor: the choice is yours.

Floating Formatting Bar​

Instead of a static toolbar, Notes uses a smart floating bar that appears only when you need it:

  • Click on an empty space: The bar appears at the cursor location, allowing you to create new elements like headings and lists.
  • Select a text snippet: The bar appears over the selection with formatting options.

Available options:

  • Headings: H1, H2, H3 to structure your document.
  • Lists: Bulleted lists (•), numbered lists (1.), and task lists with checkboxes (☑).
  • Styles: Bold, Italic, Underline, and Strikethrough.
  • Code: Inline code formatting for technical snippets.

Drag-and-Drop Reordering​

List items can be reorganized simply by dragging them. Visual handles appear when hovering over each item, making it easy to reorganize content with a single gesture.

Real-Time Metrics​

The note header displays word and character counters updated in real time. Perfect for those who need to respect size limits in articles, posts, or academic texts.

Voice Dictation​

Prefer speaking to typing? Click the Microphone icon (bottom-right corner) to dictate the note's content using voice recognition. Your words are transcribed directly into the editor.

🤖 AI Integration: Your Writing Assistant​

Artificial intelligence is integrated directly into the Notes editor, transforming it into an AI-assisted writing space. Click the ✨ (AI) button in the bottom-right corner to access these features:

1. Enhance​

The Enhance feature uses AI as a built-in editor:

  1. Select a text snippet (or select nothing to apply to the entire note).
  2. Click Enhance.
  3. The AI rewrites the text directly in the editor, improving clarity, grammar, and flow.

Didn't like the result? Use the Undo/Redo buttons (↩️ / ↪️) in the top-right corner to revert to the previous version with one click.

2. Chat (Sidebar)​

The Chat button opens a dedicated conversation in the sidebar, focused specifically on your note's content. It's the "chat with your data" mode:

  • Ask the AI to summarize, extract information, critique, or expand on what you've written.
  • Context control: Within the chat sidebar, there's an Edit button that lets you modify the context snippet sent to the AI before sending the message. This gives you granular control over what the AI "sees" from your note.

💡 Need a specific style? Instead of using the generic Enhance, open the Chat sidebar and say exactly what you want: "Rewrite this paragraph in a more professional and direct tone" or "Simplify this text for a lay audience."

💬 Using Notes in Chat​

One of the most powerful Notes features is the ability to inject your content into any conversation as context for the AI.

How to Attach a Note​

  1. In any chat's message bar, click the ➕ button.
  2. Select Attach Notes.
  3. Choose the desired note(s) from the list.

The note's full content will be loaded into the conversation context, allowing the AI to use that information to respond accurately.

When to use this?

  • You need to analyze an article draft that's in your note.
  • You want the AI to redo an entire document you're building.
  • You have a list of project requirements in the note and want to discuss them with the AI.

📤 Export and Sharing​

Manage and export your notes through the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner of the note.

Export​

Export your notes in the following formats:

  • Plain text (.txt): Content without formatting.
  • Markdown (.md): Preserves all heading, code, and list structure.
  • PDF document (.pdf): Rendered version with professional visual formatting.

Share​

  • Copy Link: Copies the note's direct URL for quick access later.
  • Copy to Clipboard: Copies all the note's content as text to paste in other applications.

📥 Import​

Already have notes in Markdown? Import them into the Notes workspace:

  • Drag and drop: Drag .md files directly to the notes list to import them.

🗂️ Organization​

The Notes panel offers different viewing options:

  • Filters: Toggle between Created by you and Shared with you.
  • Layout: Choose between List or Grid view according to your preference.

🗑️ Deleting Notes​

You can permanently delete notes from two places:

  1. From the Notes panel: Click the ⋮ menu on the note card and select Delete.
  2. From inside the note: Click the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner and select Delete.

💡 What to Use Notes For?​

Notes occupy a unique space between Chat and Knowledge. Here are some scenarios:

  • Living drafts: Write an article, use Enhance to polish paragraphs, and the Chat sidebar to brainstorm titles. The note is the final product, not just a reference.
  • Smart task lists: Create interactive checklists and ask the AI to prioritize or reorganize your items.
  • Precise context preparation: Paste specific code snippets or data into a note, organize it the way you need, and attach it to the chat. You ensure the AI sees exactly what it needs, without cuts or simplifications.
  • Content curation: Collect information from multiple conversations into an organized note that serves as a permanent reference.
